Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction is a short mixed-media work with dancers Dana Gingras and Sarah Doucet, featuring animated environments from artists James Paterson and Amit Pitaru, and music by the Knife (Bird), remixed by Roger Tellier-Craig (godspeed you! black emperor; Fly Pan Am).
The piece is designed to be viewed from above, unfolding a real time game of snakes and ladders between animation and performers in a continuous evolution of action and reaction.
Chain Reaction is part of the larger Smash-Up Project - a series of short mixed-media works conceived as a collision of dance, animation and sound, creating a tactile and mobile atmosphere, deconstructing the sublimely disquieting forces of desire, isolation, emotional and physical dislocation. Smash-Up marks the debut of Animals of Distinction, a new project from The Holy Body Tattoo co-founder Dana Gingras.
