Amit Pitaru

Amit cross-palliates his work in-between a wide range of fields; As an artist, he develops instruments for himself and others to use for music, animation and dance projects. His personal and collaborative work with James Paterson has recently exhibited and performed at the London Design Museum, Paris Pompidou Center, Sundance Film festival and ICC Museum in Tokyo.
Amit is also a designer with a particular interest in assistive technologies and universal design. His latest project attempts to make everyday software and video games more accessible to children with disabilities. He was recently commissioned by the MacArthur foundation to publish his research work in the upcoming book Ecology of Games (MIT Press).
Amit now integrates this research into his game/toy design studio, where all of the typical client projects are now made inclusively accessible to people with various disabilities.
As an educator, Amit regularly teaches at New York University's ITP and Cooper Union's Arts department. Amit is also an advisor for the Institute of Play, who is developing a public school that will use game design and game-inspired methods to teach critical 21st century skills.
