Evan Roth and James Powderly, better known as the Graffitti Research Lab, have embarked on a mission: to revolutionize tools and languages of urban artists with cheap technology and open knowledge. And so far they are making it: their LED throwies (magnetized lights that stick on metallic surfaces) have become a popular phenomenon on streets worldwide. Their latest projects show to an overflowing imagination and a growing ambition. Their L.A.S.E.R. Tagg, for instance, is able to virtually make graffiti writing over the facade of a building with a projector and a laser pointer; it must be seen to be believed. Graffitti Research Lab is without a doubt one of the great emergent names in the international scene of “new media”. During OFFF they will take over the streets of Barcelona.
